Dear Lindenhurst Postmaster, I live on North kings Avenue in Lindenhurst. This is now my 5th complaint about your terrible service to this address. I receive at least 15 letters per week that are not for my house. I am not kidding about this and I hope that you will read this and be able to do something about it. Today is Tuesday September 01st 2009, this week alone I already have 4 letters that are not for this address. I put the mail in the mailbox and it is never collected, I put it on top of the mailbox and it is still there at night. I cannot or do not have the time to go to the post office each day to do your job. I have had boxes left here, 2nd day mail left here, large magazines left here and hundreds of letters mixed in with my regular mail. I have been to the post office in Lindenhurst at least a dozen times, have written letters, have filled out forms but each and every day we continue to get mail for North (fill in the blank) my most recent mail dropped an address of different 690 North Kings Avenue WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL. Do you have a process or a certain way that the local postman can collect this mail and have it re-delivered to the correct address. I am not sure who sorts the mail for North Kings Avenue but I think that they should be fired or replaced. I do hope that you can find out why this happens and correct the situation ASAP. Thank you again for trying to correct your flawed system.

I live in Oakley, Michigan and was expecting a package from Florida. The tracking numbers show it came into Lindenhurst, NY Post Office and was prepared for delivery!!! Since then it has dropped off the face of the earth. There is no record of delivery, no return to sender, or address correction. In fact records show that it had the correct address on it, so why would it be prepared for delivery in Lindenhurst? Inquiries have not produced any results. After reading another review of this PO I am highly discouraged that it will ever be delivered to me. It must be in some postal employee's garage!!

I've lived in several different towns in my life and have NEVER had such problems with the mail that I had in Lindenhurst! Most of the people that work there DON'T CARE and that specifically includes the postmaster!!! Outside of the typical, not getting MY mail but getting everyone else's, I was waiting for a $50,000 check for my business (this is a business address I'm talking about, although I lived in Lindenhurst too and had the same problems at my house!) Needless to say my check, which the company swore was mailed out never came. The company (which was a HUGE international company) had to stop the check, and reissue, which took the approval of 10 people and over a week to get done! Meantime, I couldn't make my payroll!!! Every call to that post office fell on deaf ears.....we finally got the replacement check and wouldn't you know, the next day we got the first check, finally delivered, with scribble across the envelope saying "DOESN'T LIVE HERE"....which obviously means it was delivered to a residential address and the homeowners must have written that, and stuck it back in their mailbox. It was finally redelivered to me 2 WEEKS AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE! We took the envelope to show the postmaster, he could care less....they're absolutely HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!

Lindenhurst post office sucks, the post master hates men and has no control over her post office! I have complained a number of times, and all I get from her are these snotty remarks! She is very cocky, and deserves to be fired!!

After reading your reviews it sounds to me like Lindenhurst Post Office really sucks. Just another group of lazy individuals collecting their weekly paycheck, with no dedication to their job. Who's in charge??

This post office is the worst. Kathy does not care about anyone. She acts like she is listening, but then rolls her eyes and says that you must accept waste mail. That there is no way around it. Meanwhile, I am getting other people's mail and other people are getting mine.

The Lindenhurst post office is horrific. I paid for a certified letter with return receipt on April 19,2013 and as of May 1st still have not received the green post card back acknowledging that my letter was received. I called the post office and spoke to a sarcastic nasty woman that stated it shouldn't take that long and it was prob lost. How ironic I pay $7 for a service to make sure it gets to its destination and is signed for and it's lost! ( her words) I asked how we find it considering if the letter is not received my pension, which pays my bills for my house and provides for my family of 4 will be stopped, she said we don't! Professionalism at its best. A miserable sarcastic woman collecting a federal check and benefits paid for by the people of this country can't be bothered to help someone. If you don't like your job find another one and let someone that would appreciate what they have do yours! Eventually I spoke to a reasonable person who simply looked up my tracking number and printed out another copy of receipt and had my mail carrier deliver it within the day. All that nonsense of back and forth took longer than actually doing her job. Simply lazy!
